Science Hill Golf and Country Club, St Mary's, ON.
Click here to see the official website. Situated north of St Marys in rural Southwestern Ontario, Science Hill is primarily a golf course but does have a campground attached. It's quiet location is ideal for a peaceful break and for exploring St Marys, London and Stratford.
General Stuff
The campground is laid out in a small wooded area and the sites, half of which are full service, are well tended grass. The pads are not perfectly level and are quite close together, but the overall feel of the place is one that isn't crowded. There is a campground barn area and a pool, and the golf course restaurant and pro-shop are available to campers. The town of St Marys is close by where there are grocery stores and restaurants.
Opinion
We were here in October 2014, right at the end of the season. There were not many people there so the place felt open and not a bit busy. The grass pads had me a bit worried for towing the trailer off when the ground was wet, but we managed quite well and didn't slip at all on the wet grass. There are a few seasonal sites here but not many were occupied during our visit. The owners were on hand and very helpful and this is a place that we might look to put the trailer for a month or so rather than dragging it back and forth. The town of St Marys is lovely and you are close to Lake Huron, London, Stratford and St Jakob's Market. If you're a golfer, then you get added benefit as the 18 hole full sized course is, I'm told, very good.
