Sure, the snow's on the wane, but it's still not time for camping. It is time for some planning, though, and we have had to make some progress on trip planning already.
Firstly we need to be in Collingwood, Ontario, for a couple of days in July. There's a handy-dandy Provincial Park not far away so I think we can rest our wheels there. Then in August we need to be in Columbus, Ohio, for a day or two. There are State Parks close by but this time we wanted some luxury (that's a full hookup to us), so we've booked to stay here. It's a way out in the country but looks nice and, Mrs Toad having spoken to the owner today, we think it'll be a comfortable few days for us there. We've not been to the US for a couple of years so this will be like renewing old acquaintances. Actually, it's only a five hour drive so it's still quite local really. As to what we might do for the rest of the summer, well that depends on a lot of other stuff. I will, though, be keeping you up to date.

Welcome to the first posting of the 2015 Towed Haul Blog.
I've been following my chums at Can-Am RV and they're getting into the swing of the 2015 season with a couple of RV shows and some Beginners Seminars, so that must mean that the season isn't too far away. The trouble is that the front yard is still buried under a couple of feet of snow, so it's still winter at the moment. Actually, Towed Haul is is storage until the end of April this year, rather than the end of March, because I wasn't sure how we were going to approach the new season. As it happens, I have found some paid employment at last which, whilst it will allow us to spend some money on some road trips, will limit the time when we can travel. Fortunately, the new job is allied to the school year so when Mrs Toad is on vacation, so am I, which is useful! I've been conspicuous by my absence on Airforums, partly because work has taken up a fair chunk of my time and partly because you can only endure so much banging your head against a brick wall. I will be back, I'm sure, but I shall enjoy my time away. As for the coming season, I suspect we'll be local again. The big Tadpole is working weekends and evenings at the local grocery store, so camping may well have to fit in around him to some extent. He's talking about cycling in for his shifts so maybe we can travel without the need to be dashing home to run him to work. I had planned on paying out for some additional maintenance on the Airstream, mainly in the form of new tires. However, if we're not doing any distances then I think I may put that expense off until the end of the season. I'd also like to get some of the roof caulking re-done at some point this year, but I'll see how things go. One thing we haven't done is booked for the Victoria Day weekend so, unless we're off to the KOA in London, I doubt we'll be on the road that weekend. I may look to see if there are any cancellations at Provincial Parks, but then again, maybe not. So, I look forward to retrieving our pride and joy at the end of April, but please check back in as I may post again prior to the start of the new season. Happy camping! |
